The Student Disability Resource Center (SDRC) campus offices are operating regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00am - 5:00pm. Speechify

Importing Documents

Here’s our guide on how to import any document to Speechify.
  1. Open up the Speechify app and select the plus (+) button.
  2. Select “Import Files” from the menu.
  3. Select your cloud service (Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud) and log in.
  4. View and select the documents you want to listen to by selecting the plus icon (+) to add to your library.

Scanning Documents

Speechify’s built-in document scanner can scan any page of text and read it back to you.
  1. Open the Speechify app and tap the plus (+) button.
  2. Tap on “Scan Text” from the menu.
  3. Speechify will now ask to access your camera; tap allow.
  4. Next, select “Multi-Scan” to scan multiple pages, or use the “Quick-Scan feature for single page playback.
  5. Position the words inside the frame and capture images.
  6. When you’ve taken the pictures of the pages you need, select the arrow button.
  7. Here you can change the title of the audiobook and crop the pages to exclude any unwanted text such as chapter numbers or page numbers by tapping the edit icon.
  8. After cropping and editing, save the file to your library.
Now you have access to your physical documents as an audiobook and can listen to them wherever and whenever you choose at your optimum listening speed.

Using Speechify’s Chrome Extension

The Speechify chrome extension can read any online text including documents, emails, and website copy to you at your chosen speed. Follow the steps below to get started:
  1. Download the Speechify Chrome Extension.
  2. Select “Add to Chrome” and add the extension to Chrome.
  3. Create or Login to your Speechify account.
  4. Select your favorite HD voice and listening speed.
  5. A play icon will now appear next to the text on your webpage.
  6. Highlight or move your cursor to the text you want to listen to and select play.
